The Blueberries are a traditional
New-Orleans Jazz Orchestra, with
their roots in the Jazz which was played at the beginning of the 20 century, and
with a minimum of arrangement, but with lots of improvisation, with out the loss of the melody, which remain in the seat of
honour.
The
Orchestra was establish in 1972 in Holstebro, Denmark, of
amongst others the now deceased Journalist with Radio Denmark, Holger
Sindbæk, who until 1990 characterised the orchestra with his distinctive stamp
as a clarinettist and eminent entertainer. The Orchestra has since been lead by
General Medical Practitioner, Jesper Egerup, who is the trombone player in the
orchestra.
There have
been many thrilling musicians who have played with the orchestra through time.
Some of them have been there since the start, and still play, whilst others have
moved on to become professional musicians.
Two of the orchestra’s musicians
have had the experience of being honoured at the International “ Jass ~ Festival “ in
Holstebro Denmark, as the “ Years Best
Jazz Musicians “
( Holger Sinbæk & Jens Ole Steen )
The
Blueberries have through the years played in Concerts, and Jazz Band Balls,
together with, Dexter Gordon, Chris Barber, Papa Bue,
Dutch Swing College, and many others.
The
Orchestra plays at Jubilees, Corporate Entertainment, & Business Events, the
Opening of Private & Public Institutions, Pedestrian Precinct Jazz events,
Congresses, University Graduation Parties, Student Parties, Silver Weddings,
Weddings, Birthdays, and many other such events. They have played in most places
in Denmark, and have toured England. Nothing has been too little or even too big
an event for the Blueberries to turn up to play.
The sound
of the orchestra has always been the same, and they have an unexplainable
ability to develop a special atmosphere, and lots of activity on the dance floor,
which has not got less as the years have passed by. This phenomenon has been
with out doubt, been preserved because of the enormous playing fun that the
musicians have, in playing together which they cannot hide there genuine
friendship for one another.
